Attorney Sloane joined the firm in December 2022. He was admitted to practice in Massachusetts in 2016. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, District of Massachusetts.
Attorney Sloane graduated cum laude from Berklee College of Music, where he studied piano performance and music business. Originally deciding to go to law school to learn entertainment law, Attorney Sloane quickly found that he excelled at trial advocacy and litigation. Attorney Sloane graduated from St. John’s University School of Law in 2010, where he was a member of the Frank S. Polestino Trial Advocacy Institute, and received the CALI Award for outstanding performance in trial advocacy.
While at St. John’s University Attorney Sloane worked for the Hon. Michael Stallman in the New York Supreme Court Civil Part where he conducted research, drafted decisions and memoranda, and gained invaluable experience in the practice of civil litigation. Attorney Sloane then moved his attentions to criminal law, working for the Honorable Lewis Bart Stone in the New York Supreme Court Criminal Part, where he learned the inner workings of the criminal court system, conducted research, wrote memoranda and decisions, and assisted the Judge in conducting multiple criminal trials.
After spending several years in the business realm as a consultant and entrepreneur, Attorney Sloane decided the best use of his talents and skills were in the courtroom, and has successfully represented a multitude of people in their family law, criminal, and civil litigation matters. Working as a general practitioner Attorney Sloane handled a plethora of matters in the Superior and District Courts, from felony drug and firearm cases, to contract disputes, but he has always been most dedicated to practicing family law.
Since 2016, Attorney Sloane has zealously advocated for clients during the most difficult times of their lives and achieved fantastic results in the courtroom on custody, divorce, guardianship, and restraining order cases in front of many different judges in central and eastern Massachusetts. In 2022, based on his passion for and proficiency in family law, Attorney Sloane decided to concentrate his practice in that area and could not be more excited to join the team of talented and dedicated family law attorneys at O’Connor Family Law.
Attorney Sloane has been active in every community in which he has lived. While in New York, Attorney Sloane volunteered at the Salvation Army, teaching piano and music lessons to disadvantaged children. In Boston and on Cape Cod Attorney Sloane was active in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Program. Attorney Sloane has also been extremely involved in the Barnstable County Lawyer-of-the-Day program helping people in need with their family law issues.
