Divorce isn’t [the greatest] tragedy. A tragedy’s staying in an unhappy marriage, teaching your children the wrong things about love.

Her Story
"Behind each case is a family’s future. That’s what I care about. That’s what I’m working to protect."
Her Story

Attorney Brittany A. Garvey is big on negotiations but if your kitchen's on fire, she's not afraid of a little heat. With nearly a decade in family law, Brittany’s dedication to advocacy, especially when children are involved in a case, is outshone by none. Admitted to both the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Bar, Brittany's legal journey has been marked by a commitment to excellence, efficient litigation, and heartfelt connection to her clients. Attorney Garvey has built a reputation for efficiency and precision in drafting pleadings, negotiations, deep discovery, and argumentation. Brittany became a family law attorney to help and protect children caught in family chaos. “Children are often collateral damage in a divorce or custody case and I want to make sure no child is used as a pawn or taken advantage of during the process.” It is this dedication to families and their children that drives her to ensure that children come first while striving to get the desired outcome for her client.

Known for her efficiency in handling cases, Brittany thrives on resolving matters outside the courtroom. This spares her clients unnecessary stress and frequent court appearances. She loves championing the underdog in any case, and welcomes being underestimated by the opposing party. It is often the people who have written others off that find themselves shocked when her skillful argumentation slams the gavel in her favor.

EDUCATION & EXPERTISE

Brittany earned her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School on a full scholarship thanks to her outstanding undergraduate studies and immense discipline in academic studies. During law school, she was an active member of the Sports & Entertainment Law Society, Women's Law Society, and Child & Family Law Association. Her academic achievements at Quinnipiac University, where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies and a Minor in Psychology, solidified the foundation for her legal career.

Beyond her legal practice, Brittany loves jumping into the community. She has volunteered with the Special Olympics and participated in the Spread the Word to End the Word Committee, addressing the negative impact of derogatory language on people with disabilities.

Brittany is also a fervent sports fan, especially when it comes to hockey. She holds season passes to the Providence Bruins, often bringing her kids and family members to games. When not at a game with her favorite people, Brittany and her family love to play with their Golden Retrievers Charlie and Stitch who always know how to brighten everyone’s day.
