Brendan Maguire became a lawyer because he has always been fascinated by how the law works and how it affects people’s lives.
Long before attending law school, Brendan was the kid who found courts, government, and legal systems genuinely interesting. That curiosity eventually became a career dedicated to helping people navigate some of life’s most difficult challenges with clarity, confidence, and compassion.
As a Massachusetts family law attorney at O’Connor Family Law, Brendan helps clients facing divorce, child custody disputes, parenting plan issues, modifications, contempt actions, restraining orders, and other family law matters. He understands that when clients walk through the firm’s doors, they are often carrying fear, uncertainty, and questions about their future. His goal is simple: help them understand their options, develop a strategy, and move forward with realistic expectations.
Before joining O’Connor Family Law, Brendan served as a Staff Attorney with the Massachusetts Trial Court’s Brockton Court Service Center. There, he worked directly with self-represented litigants navigating Probate and Family Court matters, including divorce, custody disputes, child support, parentage actions, abuse prevention orders, and modifications. Every day, he helped individuals understand court procedures, draft legal pleadings, locate critical court records, and access resources that could help them move their cases forward.
That experience gave Brendan something many attorneys never receive: a front-row seat to how people experience the legal system from the client’s perspective.
He saw firsthand how confusing legal processes can feel, how overwhelming court proceedings can become, and how much of a difference knowledgeable guidance can make during difficult moments. Today, he brings that perspective to every client relationship.
Brendan is particularly skilled at taking complex family situations and transforming them into clear, persuasive narratives that courts can understand and act upon. He believes every client has a story worth telling and that effective advocacy begins with listening carefully, understanding the details, and presenting those facts in a way that advances the client’s goals.
His commitment to excellence has been evident throughout his academic and professional career. Brendan graduated summa cum laude from Suffolk University before earning his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School. He was awarded a full-tuition Trustee Academic Scholarship, earned Dean’s List recognition, and received honors for his advocacy skills.

He enjoys traveling with his partner Dan, exploring new places around the world, staying active, and spending time with friends and family. A longtime music enthusiast, Brendan is an avid drummer. He has spent years playing the instrument, where he enjoys the endurance required to keep the pace and tempo of music on track.
